The main goal of MiniGladiator.com is to provide a resource for setting up Tabletop Gladiatorial Miniature Gaming.  The system must be simple enough to be easily grasped, fast-paced enough to finish a session in 20-30 minutes (a lunch break), yet exciting enough to regain players and an audience.

Part of the concept is to make sure there is a gladiatorial campaign system in place to bring conscequences to winning or losing.  The main attribute of this gladiatorial campaign system is that the players would be performing the role of the lanista (the manager).  So each player would be able to pursue wealth, fame, and advancement of their gladiators through the ranks.  In this way the player could move from a provincial lanista to a grand Roman lanista in control of one of the most infamous troupes of gladiators.

Another goal is to provide period based gladiatorial systems.  Whether you have Roman, Fantasy, Futuristic, the basics of the system can be flexible enough to fit these situations.  If a gladiator troupe has a highly regarded reputation, they will be able to demand a higher contract price.

So how complex can this get?  I’m going to try to work it out as a simple enough method for a group of players to keep track, but may make a more advanced set of rules that would be programmed on this site.  Let’s say a gladiatorial league that tracks contract prices, results, fame, etc. The campaign system would be able to track the advancement of the lanista and the skills that the gladiators gain over time and training.  If the ideas catch on leagues can have playoffs and perhaps a champion determined each year.
